Shavon Goins murdered of 23-year-old Ravino Bailey, who was his romantic rival, in 2018 and then fled to Alabama, where he was arrested.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Hempstead man was sentenced to decades behind bars on Tuesday for the murder of his romantic rival in 2018.
Shavon Goins, 27, was convicted on Dec. 5, 2019 of second-degree murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
“Shavon Goins got into an altercation with Ravino Bailey and five hours later, returned to the same house to senselessly murder his romantic rival,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “After stabbing the victim twice, Goins fled to Alabama and was tracked down due to great detective work from the Nassau County Police Department. We hope that today’s conviction brings some measure of closure to Ravino Bailey’s family.”

Later that night, around 1:45 a.m., Bailey was in the home on Dartmouth Street when Goins returned, kicking in the door to gain entry to the building. He stabbed Bailey twice — once in the arm and once in the heart.
