Queens Woman Stole Resident's Identity: Garden City Police

Numerous deep scratches were found on a car parked at a Chestnut Street home on Jan. 30.

A Hilton Avenue business reported a $200 check they sent via U.S. Mail as payment to another business was intercepted, altered to $2,000, and cashed by a different party, on Jan. 30.

A traffic stop investigation on 3rd Street on Jan. 31 resulted in the arrest of a driver, a 42-year-old man from Valley Stream, for driving with a revoked license due to a prior DWI, four additional suspensions/revocations and uninsured operation. The front seat passenger in the vehicle, a 23-year-old man from Hempstead, was arrested for an outstanding Hempstead Village Traffic Court warrant, unlawful possession of marijuana and not wearing a seat belt.

An officer responded to Adelphi University for a report of an unknown vehicle leaving the scene after striking and damaging a parked, unattended vehicle on Jan. 31.

Officers responded to a railroad gate malfunction at the Cathedral Avenue crossing on Jan. 31.

Officers responded to a report of two suspicious duffel bags on the ground in Parking Field 11 on Feb. 1. Upon investigation, it was determined the items accidentally fell out of a car. The items were returned to the owner.

As a result of a traffic investigation of a commercial vehicle on Clinton Road on Feb. 1, the driver, a 40-year-old man from Hempstead, was charged with driving with a suspended license.

Upon investigation, Garden City detectives arrested a 43-year-old woman on Feb. 1 from Freeport for leaving the scene of an accident that occurred on the Adelphi campus in December 2018.

As a result of an investigation at Lord & Taylor, detectives arrested a 28-year-old woman from Queens for using the identities of a Garden City and a Rockville Centre resident to purchase gift cards and merchandise on Feb. 2. She was charged with multiple counts of identity theft, forgery and larceny.

Upon investigation, Garden City Detectives arrested a 17-year-old from Garden City for criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance (THC).

Officers and Garden City firefighters responded to a 7th Street building for an alarm caused by an interior water pipe break on Feb. 3.

Officers conducted a traffic stop investigation on Washington Avenue on Feb. 3 where the driver, a 35-year-old man from West Hempstead, was charged with driving with a forged temporary out-of-state license plate, unregistered vehicle and uninspected vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.

A cell phone and money were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Spruce Street residence on Feb. 4.

A handicap permit was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in Nassau County Parking Field 3 on Feb. 4.

Upon investigation of an attempted burglary of a Meadow Street home that occurred in October 2018, Garden City Detectives arrested a 41-year-old man from Elmont for attempted burglary and possession of stolen property on Feb. 5.
