Rep. Rice To Lead Bipartisan Trip To Texas Detention Facilities
The Congresswoman and other members of the Homeland Security Committee will visit the border to see conditions there.

Congresswoman Kathleen Rice, a Democrat from Garden City, announced that she and other members of Congress are planning a bi-partisan visit to immigration detention facilities in Texas on Friday.
Rice, along with other members of the Homeland Security Committee, will visit Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) facilities around McAllen, Texas. They will visit a Border Patrol station, processing center, holding facility and a port of entry. The group will also visit the Department of Health and Human Services shelter and meet with local immigration stake holders and advocates.
“Over the past several months we’ve seen horrific reports of the inhumane treatment and conditions that migrants have endured at the border,” said Rice, who is chair of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border Security, Facilitation and Operations. “Meanwhile, the administration has continued to push anti-immigrant policies that have hurt migrants, endangered asylum seekers and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis. This is unacceptable. I am leading this trip in the hopes that we can work together on solutions that are humane, effective and uphold our American values.”
