Robber Fired Several Shots at Man During Failed Car Jacking: Police
BREAKING: The robber was charged with attempted murder and robbery.

A Roosevelt man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he shot at a man during an attempted car jacking Sunday night, police said.
The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for Attempted Murder and Robbery that occurred on Sunday, February 05, 2017 at 11:30 pm in Hempstead.
According to detectives, a man was sitting in his car in front of 104 Willow Ave. at 11:30 p.m. when a robber, later identified as Andre Dennis, displayed a handgun and demanded money and the man's car. The man, in fear for his life, put the car in gear and drove away. Police say Dennis fired several shots, one of which struck the man in the bicep. The man was able to drive himself to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

A short time later, police received a call for a stolen car in front of 1 Long Beach Road. When police arrived, officers discovered that the same robber displayed a handgun to a 26-year-old man and took his wallet, cell phone and his 2015 Nissan Maxima.
After an investigation by detectives, Dennis, 22, of Park Avenue, Roosevelt, was placed under arrest at 1:55 a.m. on Dutch Broadway in Elmont. The car, a loaded .45 caliber handgun and proceeds from the robbery, was found at the scene. Dennis is being charged with attempted murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, possession of a weapon and criminal use of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
