Adelphi University's School of Social Work will host a Spotlight On: Careers in Social Work, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hauppauge Education and Conference Center, 55 Kennedy Drive, Hauppauge, New York. Recent social work graduates, now employed in this rapidly growing sector, will share their experiences and their journey from student to social work professional.
The demands for social work is on the rise throughout our region. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, social work employment is expected to increase almost 20% by 2022. School of Social Work Associate Dean and President of the New York State Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, Dr. Peter Chernack notes, “the Long Island region faces many of the social problems confronting our nation; Adelphi is committed to preparing social work professionals who will serve as change agents, empowering individuals, families, and communities.”
