The Garden City Police Department reported the follow incidents from Feb. 26 through March 4.

  • A 19-year-old man from Garden City was arrested for harassing another family member in violation of a Nassau County Family Court Order on Feb. 26. He was charged with criminal contempt.
  • On Feb. 27, money was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Huntington Road residence, gift cards were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Kingsbury Road residence and money was removed from a vehicle parked at a Tremont Street residence.
  • Officers responded to Cherry Valley Avenue on Feb. 27 where a southbound truck struck the train trestle. The truck suffered substantial damage. MTA investigators reported no apparent damage to the trestle. No injuries were reported. The driver, a 53-year-old man from New York City, was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs.
  • Two Adelphi University employees reported credits cards were stolen from their unattended handbags and were used to purchase merchandise at a nearby store on Feb. 28.
  • A box truck traveling north left the scene after striking and damaging the gate at the New Hyde Park Road railroad crossing on Feb. 28. The broken gate struck a nearby pedestrian, causing minor injuries.
  • A vinyl fence gate was found damaged at an Osborne Road home on March 1.
  • An unauthorized credit card account was opened using a resident’s identity on March 1 and was subsequently used to buy merchandise valued at $1,000.
  • At 9:20 p.m. on March 1, an officer stopped a suspicious vehicle on Stewart Avenue and Devereux Place without its headlights on. Upon investigation, the driver, a 23-year-old man from Hempstead, was arrested for DWI and deactivated headlights.
  • A woman’s designer coat was reported stolen from the locker room of the NY Sports Club on March 2.
  • Officers assisted the fire department, which responded to a residence for a smoke condition caused by faulty wiring on March 2.
  • As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Merillon Avenue on March 2, officers charged the driver, a 35-year-old man from Hempstead, with driving with a suspended license, suspended registration, switched license plates, unregistered vehicle and uninsured operation.
  • As a result of an investigation at Community Park on March 3, a 13-year-old from Hempstead was arrested for criminal possession of marijuana.
  • Officers conducted a domestic incident investigation on 7th Street on March 4, resulting in the arrest of a 28-year-old man from Stewart Manor for damaging his girlfriend’s cell phone. He was charged with felony criminal mischief.
  • Officers conducted a traffic stop on 1st Street on March 4 resulting in the arrest of a 35-year-old man from Hempstead for possession of a forged inspection certificate, criminal possession of marijuana, defective headlights and not wearing a seat belt.
  • Garden City detectives arrested a 32-year-old man from Brooklyn on March 4 for accessing a resident’s store credit card account on Feb. 13 by assuming the identity of the resident and presenting a forged license depicting the resident’s information along with the subject’s photo. The man then made unauthorized purchases against the credit card account. He is charged with identity theft, possession of a forged instrument, forgery and larceny.
  • Officers assisted the dire Department on New Hyde Park Road for a power outage on March 4 caused by a broken tree limb resting on a power line. PSEG responded and fixed the problem.
