The Uniondale School District recently held its inaugural Family Fun Science Night for pre-kindergarten students and their family members. The event featured representatives from the Cradle of Aviation Museum, who lead fun, hands-on activities to teach students about the wonders of outer space. More than 144 students in the District’s Pre-K program had the opportunity to try on a real astronaut suit, look at constellations, study the moon’s cratered surface and learn basic astronomy. Students also explored colors, shapes and numbers to learn the basic features of the moon.
Family Fun Science Night was part of the Uniondale School District’s ongoing initiative to encourage students to focus on subjects related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
