Woman Pepper Sprayed Nassau Officers During Arrest: Police
Police say they tried to arrest her for stealing $1,100 of merchandise from Victoria's Secret, but she attacked the officers.

UPDATE, Feb. 11: Police say the woman they arrested arrested falsely reported her name when she was arrested. Police have identified her as Latoya Moe, 31, of Brooklyn Avenue, Brooklyn.
ORIGINAL STORY: A Brooklyn woman was arrested Friday afternoon after Nassau police say she pepper sprayed officers who were trying to arrest her for shoplifting.
According to police, Latoya Moe, 31, of Brooklyn Avenue, Brooklyn, stole about $1,100 worth of merchandise from Victoria's Secret, located in the Roosevelt Field Mall in East Garden City. Officers located Moe around 1:30 p.m. Friday. During their investigation, police say the Moe pepper sprayed both officers.

Officers tried to place her under arrest, but police say Moe refused to comply with the officers and began to kick, bite, punch and spit at the officers. After a brief struggle, officers were able to place Moe under arrest, police say.
The officers were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries and then released.

Moe is charged with two counts of assault with intent to cause physical injury to a police officer, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, obstructing governmental administration with a spray device, resisting arrest, false impersonation and possession of burglar tools. She was arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
