Readers were outraged in May when a video surfaced showing Hofstra students forcing a small dog to drink beer, which could have been fatal. Thankfully, the dog was OK, and the fraternity that hosted the party where the incident happened was suspended.

3. 'Sopranos' Movie Films In Garden City

In April, Garden City became the backdrop for a new "Sopranos" movie. The production spent two days filming at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home on Franklin Avenue.

4. Police ID 24-Year-Old Woman Killed in Nassau Crash

In April, a young woman died after she lost control of her car and drove into a tree on Linton Road.

5. Nassau Woman Pleads Guilty To Running Over Neighbor While Drunk

In January, Garden City resident Tara Guinnane pleaded guilty to driving drunk and hitting her neighbor with her car as he was walking home from the train station.

6. Long Island Tween Wins Golden Buzzer On 'America's Got Talent'

In July, 12-year-old Garden City resident Luke Islam took the stage on "America's Got Talent" and wowed the country. His amazing voice won him the show's Golden Buzzer, as well as tons of praise from the judges.
