On Saturday, a search began for a missing boater whose boat was found abandoned off the shoreline in Sands Point. The U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for the boater, 58-year-old Ralph G. Fletcher III, on Sunday after searching 225 square nautical miles for approximately 24 hours.
Nassau County Police could not confirm if the person found was Fletcher.
