Cops: Roslyn Schools Go Into Lockdown After Nearby Robbery

Schools put on lockdown as cops searched for a man who robbed a woman sitting in her car outside Holiday Farms, police said.

Roslyn schools were put on lockdown as Nassau police combed the area after a nearby robbery on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Police say an unknown man approached a 58-year-old woman at 1:11 p.m. who was sitting in her parked car after loading her groceries at the Holiday Farms lot at 374 Roslyn Road.

The man demanded her jewelry and took a wedding ring off her finger. He then fled on foot east on the south service road of the Long Island Expressway, police said.

The Roslyn Middle School and the Locust Lane School located nearby were locked down as a precaution, according to police.

The Nassau County Aviation and Canine Unit assisted in the search. The man is described as 30-40 years of age, wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and khaki pants, police said.

The lockdown was lifted at 1:50 p.m., according to Newsday.

There were no injuries reported, police said.
