Port Washington's Elijah Wood is behind the drums during Miguel Dakota's "Come Together" cove on NBC's "America's Got Talent."
Long Islanders watching “America’s Got Talent” Tuesday night might have spotted Port Washington’s Elijah Wood behind the drums during Miguel Dakota’s “Come Together” cover.
Wood, pictured left in the photo, performed with the band during a live taping of the show at Radio City Hall in New York.
“I’m so honored to have worked with Miguel Dakota last night,” Wood told Patch. “He’s such a real down to earth person and I know he’s going places! Vote for him!”

Wood, who is expected to perform with Dakota and company during the band’s journey on America’s Got Talent, is a natural on stage. He tours regularly with parents Mark Wood – former string master and a founding member of Trans Siberian Orchestra – and vocalist Laura Kaye with the “Mark Wood Experience,” and the “Electrify Your Strings” program. The program visits 60-plus schools annually, providing workshops, rehearsals and performances, raising money for music education.

At 18 years old, Elijah Wood is reportedly the youngest drummer to be endorsed by Gretsch Drums. He is also endorsed by Promark, the drum division of D’Addario.
His parents, of course, encourage him every step of the way. Tuesday’s performance was no exception, as Mark Wood and Laura Kaye enjoyed the show from their orchestra seats at Radio City.
“America’s Got Talent” airs again Wednesday evening on NBC at 9 p.m. Voting for Tuesday’s show ends Wednesday at 12 p.m.
