Two men were arrested on Cedar Swamp Road Thursday after <a href="https://patch.com/L-sYS" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Glen Cove police</a> say they committed a home invasion on Frost Pond Road.   According to city detectives, a woman resident of the house called police around 10:51 a.m., after she came home and was confronted by the men in the home. The suspects then fled the scene on foot, but the woman was still able to provide officers with details about their appearance.  City authorities said they immediately sent out a description of the suspects to police patrol officers and notified the Nassau County Police Aviation Bureau. Within 30 minutes and after a brief foot chase through some residential yards, officers nabbed one man between Cedar Swamp Road and 4th Street. The second suspect was caught 20 mintues later on a nearby block. As of press time Thursday, no further information was available.

The 44th Annual WICC Surfside Hotel <a href="https://www.bluefishtournament.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth</a> returns to Long Island Sound on Saturday, August 29, with fishing officially beginning at 12:01 a.m. Anglers from New York and Connecticut will compete for bragging rights—and a $25,000 grand prize awarded to the tournament's largest bluefish.
The weekend-long tournament features more than $40,000 in total cash prizes, including:
<ul><li>1st Place: $25,000</li><li>2nd Place: $7,500</li><li>3rd Place: $2,500</li><li>Smaller cash prizes awarded through 20th Place</li><li>Port Prizes awarded for the heaviest bluefish weighed at each official Connecticut and New York weigh station (see below for complete list of weigh stations)</li></ul>
Young anglers, 17 and under, will also have the chance to win big. The tournament will award a $1,000 cash prize to the largest bluefish caught by a youth angler. Second and third place youth winners will receive $100 gift cards.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.
