SAFE: Backpacks for Youth

The goal was to ensure that all students were able to return to their classrooms equipped with the tools they needed.

As summer drew to a close and students headed back to school, not everyone was able to return with the same access to supplies and resources to start their year off strong. Mrs. Laurent Caballero, SAFE bilingual Outreach Worker and Life Skills Training Facilitator identified families in need and alongside community partners, the Glen Cove Youth Bureau, St. John’s of Lattingtown, Glen Cove School District teachers and parents, engaged in a Back-to-School collaboration that provided backpacks and school supplies to over 30 youth.

The goal was to ensure that all students were able to return to their classrooms equipped with the tools they needed for a successful school year.

SAFE is the only prevention agency in the City of Glen Cove. The organization provides evidence based alcohol and substance use prevention education to youth and their families and works with members of the SAFE Glen Cove Coalition to assist at-risk populations in need.
