SAFE GC Coalition: Parent Program Receives COVID Education and Support

Laurent Caballero, SAFE bilingual outreach worker and SAFE Coalition Parent Committee Chair, collaborated with Project Hope.

On April 5th, Laurent Caballero, SAFE bilingual outreach worker, and SAFE Coalition Parent Committee Chair, collaborated with Project Hope to hear and address parent concerns. NY Project Hope is New York’s COVID-19 Emotional Support Help service that provides workshops, educational materials, and trusted referrals.

Parents enrolled in Mrs. Caballero’s Life Skills Training program had the privilege of hearing from Ms. Lou Ann Delgado and Ms. Carolina Romero. Their presentation consisted of a variety of information that Project Hope provides in aiding individuals who are coping with COVID and its negative consequences. Positive thinking is needed when dealing with the Pandemic which seems to be exacerbating and also being mindful rather than fearful of variants as they will continue. Parents were connected to a myriad of resources such as mental health support, substance abuse and crisis counseling.

Project Hope has two locations- Hispanic Counseling Center in Hempstead and the Charles Evans Center in Glen Cove. For more information about Project Hope please visit nyprojecthope.org or visit the COVID page of SAFE’s website.
