SAFE Glen Cove Coalition: National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week
National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week inspires and facilitates discussion about the science of drug use and addiction among youth.

National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week (NDAFW), is an annual, week-long, health observance that inspires and facilitates discussion about the science of drug use and addiction among youth. It provides an opportunity to bring evidence based research to, students, educators, healthcare providers, and community partners to increase the prevention and awareness of substance misuse locally and nationally. NDAFW launched in 2010 by scientists at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to stimulate educational events in communities so youth can learn what science has taught us about drug use and addiction.
This year’s NDAFW was celebrated with Glen Cove School District students enrolled in Mr. Gallo’s Health Education classes and in SAFE’s after school Life Skills Training program in collaboration with the Glen Cove Youth Bureau.
Students learned to shatter the myths about drugs and drug use developing a firm understanding discuss how drugs affect the brain, body, and behaviors, in the community.
