Marsha Silverman, Glen Cove City Councilwoman stated: "It is inspiring to see the faces of children light up as they pick out a book. Coming from a family of teachers, I am thrilled that we are able to provide children with books to enjoy over the summer”.
Erin Jackman, Executive Director of the Brooke Jackman foundation stated: “As the children and families that we serve are still staying home, cut off from their everyday lives - it is important to us at the Brooke Jackman Foundation to continue our important work in new ways. Sending books to the children of Glen Cove through the Glen Cove Food Pantry to promote reading is both fun and helps to create a sense of normalcy that is so important right now amid this pandemic.”

About the Brooke Jackman Foundation: Our mission is to create and support programs enhancing the literacy and self-esteem of disadvantaged children and their families in and around the New York area. The Family Literacy Programs, Brooke Packs, and Brooke’s Books are among the projects we sponsor that help thousands of children in diverse city, agency, and school programs. The Brooke Jackman Foundation, a nonprofit, public 501(c)(3) organization, was created in October 2001 in response to the September 11 World Trade Center attack that claimed the life of Brooke Jackman, age 23.
