Tim Tenke Declared Glen Cove Mayor By 3-Vote Margin: Report

The Glen Cove City Council member defeated current Mayor Reggie Spinello.

Democrat Tim Tenke was officially declared the winner of the City of Glen Cove Mayoral race on Wednesday by a narrow margin.

Tenke, a member of the Glen Cove City Council for 13 years, defeated current mayor and Republican Reggie Spinello by a three-vote margin of 2,784 to 2,781, according to Newsday.

An attorney for the Republican Party requested for a hand count of all the ballots, but the request was rejected by State Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey S. Brown, Newsday reports.

The Nov. 7 elections had Spinello winning over Tenke by 21 votes before absentee ballots were counted.

Tenke, a lifelong Glen Cove resident, has served as a trial attorney for the past 27 years. He also served two years on the Glen Cove Planning Board and currently serves on the Glen Cove City Council.

The Republicans remain in control of the Glen Cove City Council with a 5-2 majority.
