Kips Bay Robber Slashes Tailor, Makes Off With Cash: Police
Breaking: Police are still looking for the man, who fled the scene at East 27th St.
KIPS BAY, NY — A robber walked into a Kips Bay tailor Monday afternoon, slashed a worker with a knife and stole $80 in cash before fleeing the scene, the NYPD said.
The man walked into the shop, at 203 East 27th St. between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, around 12:40 p.m., police said, and stabbed a 78-year-old man in the chest multiple times, demanding money.
The worker eventually handed over about $80, and the robber "stabbed and cut the victim a few more times" before fleeing on East 27th St.

“He had a gash on his face and he was holding onto his stomach. I believe he had a gash on his stomach,” Matthew Moreno, a nearby barber, told the New York Daily News.
“There was blood all over the floor. There’s a blood trail going from his door all the way down to the area (outside the shop),” Moreno told the Daily News.

The robber has not been located.
Police released the following surveillance video and photos of the suspect, described as a 40- to 50-year-old Hispanic man who stands 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 and weighs between 160 and 190 pounds. He was wearing blue hooded coat, blue jeans and black sneakers, police said.
