'Trumpcare' Protest In NYC: Activists Plan Union Square Rally
New York City activists are planning a Monday night rally in Union Square to protest "Trumpcare."

UNION SQUARE, NY — A coalition of New York City activist groups was planning a Monday night rally to protest President Donald Trump's push to repeal Obamacare.
"With the repeal of the flawed and partially defunded ACA on the horizon, and the abhorrent plans to replace it with something that is not care, but a tax cut for the wealthy, it's time to let Congress know we wish to have health care for all people like all other modern industrialized nations," organizers of the rally wrote on Facebook.
The rally, which is organized by a number of groups including the Women's March NYC, is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Union Square. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

At a Monday press conference, Trump again called on Senate Republicans to move forward with a bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act, Obama's signature healthcare legislation. Senators could vote as early as Tuesday on whether to bring a healthcare bill previously passed by the House to the Senate floor for debate.
The independent Congressional Budget Office said that that bill would cause another 14 million more people to be uninsured next year and 23 million more by 2026.
