TI Concert Shooting: Bail Revoked for Podcast Host Linked to Gun

Taxstone's bail was revoked after prosecutors told a Manhattan federal court judge they're "convinced" Taxstone is behind the shooting.

GRAMERCY, NY — Bail was revoked Wednesday for hip-hop podcaster Taxstone, who's real name is Daryl Campbell, after prosecutors told a Manhattan federal court judge they're "convinced" he's behind the high-profile, fatal shooting at a T.I. concert in Irving Plaza in May, The Post reports. Campbell was arrested Monday on a federal weapons possession charge in connection to the shooting in Irving Plaza, police said.

The shooting on May 25, 2016 injured two bystanders and killed rapper Troy Ave's bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, police said. Investigators allegedly found Campbell's D.N.A. on the trigger, hand grip and magazine of the 9-millimeter Kel-Tec semiautomatic handgun used in the shooting.

Prosecutors told a Manhattan federal court judge that they firmly believe Campbell, 31, is responsible for the shooting. They also said Campbell may be slapped with additional charges, The Post reports.

According to DNAinfo, a judge set bail for Taxstone at $500,000 with a number of restrictions on his movement Tuesday.

Judge Andrew Peck then reversed his decision and denied bail for Taxstone after prosecutors called him a “danger to the community.”

“The gun here was fired into the chest of the deceased by the defendant,” Manhattan federal prosecutor Haggen Scotten told judge Lewis Kaplan, according to The Post. “We think the evidence of that is actually fairly strong.”

Scotten also said they have witness testimony to show Campbell is behind the shot that killed McPhatter, the bodyguard of Campbell's "alleged nemesis" rapper Troy Ave, who's real name is Roland Collins.

The Post reports that according to Scotten, Campbell brought the gun to the third-floor Green Room, a VIP area of the Irving Plaza concert venue, expected to confront Troy Ave.

Campbell, pictured above, is known for his provocative hip-hop commentary on the podcast Tax Season on the Loud Speakers Network. He reportedly feuded with Troy Ave on Twitter for years.

Campbell has not yet pled to the gun charges.
