GREAT NECK, NY — Police are investigating after a car drove up to a teen girl in Great Neck and an elderly woman tried to coax the child to get in.

The 14-year-old was walking home from school around 6:45 p.m. Thursday on Baker Hill Road near Chadwick road when a white four-door sedan pulled up, Nassau County police said. While the car was still moving, an elderly woman opened the passenger side door and repeatedly offered the girl a ride, police said.

The car, described as a newer model, drove off when the girl took out her phone to make a call. The teen ran home and told her father.
