Outdoor Movie; Free Health Screenings

Some happenings in and around Great Neck on Wednesday.

Outdoor Movie In Old Village: Get out and enjoy the great weather with an outdoor viewing of The Lorax on the Village Green Wednesday. Sponsored by the Great Neck Park District, the PG-rated movie begins at 8:30 p.m. 

Park District Rec Van: Catch the Great Neck Park District’s mobile rec van, in Thomaston Park at Susquehanna Avenue from 1 to 3 p.m. The rec van will also visit Manor Park at Cumberland Avenue from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information call 482-0355.

Swim While You Can: Through Aug. 23, the Great Neck Park Distric’s Parkwood Family Aquatic Center is open for swimming from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Get pool membership at Great Neck House during regular registration hours or go online to www.greatneckparks.com

Free Health Screening: Sponsored by the Town of North Hempstead at the "Yes We Can" Community Center in Westbury, the St. Francis Hospital Community Outreach screenings include a brief cardiac history, blood pressure, simple blood test for cholesterol, and diabetes screenings with appropriate patient education and referrals as needed for clients above the age of 18. Event runs from 2-4 p.m. Admission is free.
