Evening Worship led by Rev. Jennifer Brower
Special performances by Gathering of Friends band, and singer/songwriter Robert Poe and his band, hosted by News12 reporter Ken Grimball
This evening worship service is multigenerational. Held on the second Friday of each month, Oct. through May, the evening begins with a $4.00 soup and salad supper (optional), followed by worship for people of all ages and then a time of fellowship and entertainment at the FREE Shelter Rock coffeehouse.
The worship service weaves together spoken word with a wide selection of contemporary live music played by the Gathering of Friends band. UUCSR members, friends and newcomers are welcome. Dinner begins at 6:30 pm in the Social Hall and worship at 7:30 pm in the Worship Room and the coffeehouse at 8:30 pm in the Art Gallery. Registration is not necessary. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers.
Featured performer is Robert Poe, a singer/songwriter from New York, voted ABC Radio Network's Best New Unsigned Artist. He brings to the stage a deep, rich voice reminiscent of the great early crooners of our time and mixes in some delta dirt and swamp water. One critic described his style by calling him The Swamp Crooner. Robert will be joined by his band, Chris Marshak, Pat Falco and Paul Grassini at both the Soulful Sundown worship service and coffeehouse. The coffeehouse will be hosted by Ken Grimball, a reporter with News12 Long Island. All are welcome to both performances.
