1 Killed, 1 Hurt in Crash on LIE Service Road
Fatal crash occurred in Brentwood early Monday morning, police say.

A Central Islip man was killed and his passenger was injured in a single-car crash in Brentwood early Monday morning, police said.
According to police, Leonard Joseph, 50, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Express van east on Express Drive South at the intersection of Crooked Hill Road in Brentwood when he apparently lost control of the vehicle at about 3:35 a.m. The van struck several trees and a fence before overturning in a wooded area, police said.
Joseph, who was ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Rachel Boerke, 25, of Huntington Station, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
