UPDATED: Man Attempts to Rob Melville Bank

MELVILLE, NY— Suffolk Police are looking to identify the man who attempted to rob a Melville bank Thursday morning.

According to authorities, a masked man entered Citibank, located at 425 Broadhollow Road, and placed a bag on the counter in front of a teller at 11:25 a.m.
The teller backed away from the counter, so the man handed a demand note to a different teller, who also backed away from the counter, police said. The man fled on foot without any proceeds and left his bag at the scene.

The bank was evacuated as a precaution while Emergency Service Section officers responded to the scene to determine that the bag was safe.
Police described the robber as black, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-10-inches tall, with a medium build, and wearing a black mask, a black hooded jacket, dark jeans and sneakers.
The incident is still under investigation.
