Poulos is seeking to be elected as the Suffolk County 16th District Legislator on Nov. 8.
In an Interview with Patch, Poulos laid out her thoughts and plans for residents in the area. Here is what she had to say:
- Patch: Why did you decide to run for the district seat?
Poulos: As a small business owner and attorney I understand the hardships the residents of the 16th District are facing because I face them too. It's time to stop waiting and hoping for improvement and take action.
- Patch: You ran for the Huntington Town Board once before. Why did you decide to run on the county level this time?
Poulos: First and foremost we need new leadership in Suffolk County. I will focus on reviving the local economy and putting Long Islanders back to work.
- Patch: What, if any, problems exist in the 16th district? What ideas do you have to fix them?
Poulos: The unemployment in our community has doubled over the past six years. Action needs to be taken to revitalize our local economy. We need to determine the needs of the county over the next decade and not just budget from year to year. Establishing goals will stop the need for emergency funding and will lower our tax burden.
- Patch: What is the first thing you want to do if elected?
Poulos: I would like to do the performance audit of Suffolk agencies and departments to ensure tax dollars are maximized and that the county is providing quality services.
- Patch: Where are some of your favorite places to visit in the district?
Poulos: I enjoy supporting the local farm stands and nurseries because I have a passion for gardening and planting. I also like utilizing our parks and open spaces. I'd be honored to have your vote and be your next representative in the 16th district.
