Opinion: D'Amaro Thanks Voters

17th District legislator shares gratitude for reelection.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincerest thanks to the people of the 17th Legislative District for re-electing me to the Suffolk County Legislature.  I am honored to represent each and every one of you and I truly appreciate the continued trust you have placed in me to be your representative.

Looking ahead to my next term, I realize that there will be many challenges facing Suffolk County, as well as the State and Federal governments, our neighborhoods, towns, school districts, and local businesses.  Given the slumping economy, some very difficult decisions lie ahead as we in government try to protect middle class taxpayers while continuing to deliver essential government services to the public and helping those in need.

Whatever the challenges may be, however, and no matter how difficult things may get before they get better, you have my commitment that I will continue to give my full attention to representing you and protecting your interests in County government.  As a community working together, I am confident that we can and will overcome any problem.

I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you to contact me and/or my staff to express your thoughts, ideas and concerns.  As I always maintain, I need to know what's on your mind to effectively govern. Furthermore, my door is always open should you need any type of assistance.  My staff and I are here to help. My district office may be reached at 631-854-4433.

Again, thank you for re-electing me to represent you in County government. I am looking forward to being sworn in to a 4th term this January and representing all of the residents of my district to the best of my ability.
