Melville Company Strikes $2.2M Deal with U.S. Army
Local branch of Comtech Telecommunications is awarded a continued contract with the nation's military.
The Melville-based subsidiary of a national communications company has won a continued contract with the U.S. military for orders priced at $2.2 million.
Comtech Telecommunication Corp. said that it will supply broadband, high-power amplifiers, which provide for very broad frequency coverage and are key components in a critical program to a “U.S. military customer,” that was not specifically named.
"The delivery of this equipment will allow our customer to fulfill an important mission. We are very pleased to supply our highly reliable high-power amplifiers to this key customer,” Fred Kornberg, president and chief executive officer of the company said.
The high-performing amplifiers are used in a broad spectrum of applications, including defense, medical and satellite communications systems, the communications company said in a release.
The announcement was made last month. Since then, an additional $6.3 million in orders have been placed with the company's Maryland-based subsidiary, as well for the U.S. Army's Movement Tracking System Program. According to the Professional Bulletin of Army Logistics, the program is designed for commanders to track assets on the battlefield with encrypted text messaging.
Comtech anticipates that the value of this order will increase based on final negotiations with the Army.
