Imagine the frustration of a first responder who is called to the scene of an emergency and is desperately looking for an address that they just can’t find because the house numbers are blocked, have fallen off or are non-existent. On the other hand, imagine calling 911 for a loved one who has fallen ill and is waiting for an ambulance to arrive – but the ambulance can’t find you. These two scenarios highlight the importance of making certain that your house number is visible to emergency responders at all times. Any first responder will tell you that far too often, especially at night, it is difficult to locate the address of an emergency if the house numbers are not clearly displayed. Here are some tips to make sure your house is as visible as possible to first responders:
· Use numbers with colors that contrast with the color of your home.
· Use numbers that are large enough to be seen from the street.
