West Hollow Middle School also brought home an individual champion. Rinni Bhansali placed first and Jared Banks placed fourth in the Individual Competition. Bhansali and Banks competed against 125 students in Suffolk County.
“Both the team and the individual contests offer a great opportunity for students to solve problems and experience the different methods other students used to solve the same problems,” said Silvia Scognamillo, secretary to the superintendent, in a press release.
Students were able to work with students from other schools to answer contest questions in the Mix-It-Up round and the students who previously tied in the competition took part in the Tie-Breaker round.
“We are very proud of all our students,” Scognamillo said.
