Police: Orient Man Tries to Fight Officer, Resists Arrest in Greenport
The incident occurred on Friday night.

An Orient man was arrested on Friday night after he attempted to fight a police officer and resist arrest in Greenport, according to Southold Town Police.
The Southold Town Police Department received a 911 report of multiple people fighting in the roadway on Linnet Street, police said.
Upon arrival at the scene, William Mokus, 22, was found bloody, and walking around the porch of the home on Linnet Street in a combative manner, according to police.

Police determined he had been involved in a prior physical altercation.
Mokus approached an officer in the roadway, yelling multiple obscenities, and attempted to engage the officers in a physical altercation, police said.

He was subdued and began to resist arrest, police said.
Mokus was arrested for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, transported to Southold Town Police Department for processing, and held overnight to await arraignment before Southold Town Justice Court, police said.
He was also charged with harassment of a police officer after he spit on the officer while in a holding cell at police headquarters, police said.
