West Side Story opened on Broadway in the fall of 1957. The work remains an important and seminal moment in the history of musical theater. Based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this lecture illustrated with musical and video excerpts will provide an opportunity to hear such well-known songs as Something’s Coming, Maria, Tonight, America and more.
