2 Harlem Libraries Open For Limited In-Person Services

HARLEM, NY — Two Harlem libraries are among the few branches citywide that reopened starting Monday for limited in-person services, the New York Public Library announced this week.

The Countee Cullen Library at 104 West 136th St. and the 125th Street Library at 224 East 125th St. are among the 14 locations where the NYPL is expanding its grab-and-go program, which began over the summer after libraries were closed entirely for several months during the pandemic.

Now, patrons can make advance appointments to use public desktop computers and browse the collections of those two Harlem branches.

People can make an appointment online or call the branch by phone. Computer sessions are 45 minutes long, while browsing is limited to 30 minutes. A number of sanitizing and social distancing protocols will be in place.

Restrooms, seating and other uses of the libraries' space are still off-limits.

All 50 of the NYPL's open locations are now offering some form of grab-and-go service for pickups and returns.
