'Affordable' Harlem Apartments Require $90K Income
The so-called affordable apartments in a new Harlem building require a minimum $90,000 income to even be eligible. Here's how to apply.
HARLEM, NY — A set of so-called "affordable" apartments were listed this month on the city's housing lottery, but families must take home upwards of $90,000 per year to even be eligible.
The six apartments are part of 320 West 135th St., a new building on the corner of St. Nicholas Avenue. They consist of three one-bedroom apartments and another three two-bedroom units.
All six apartments are now up for grabs on the city's housing lottery — but only for applicants who make at least 130 percent of the area median income. That equates to $90,858 for a single person, or up to $167,570 combined for a family of five.
