Boy Struck By Jeep In Harlem Dies, Police Say
A 13-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East 135th Street and Fifth Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

HARLEM, NY — A 13-year-old boy critically injured after being struck by a Jeep in Harlem last week has died of his injuries, Police told Patch Monday.
The boy, identified as Kayshawn Whitick, succumbed to his injures one day after being rushed to Harlem Hospital, police said. Whitick was struck by a Jeep Wrangler Wednesday afternoon inside the intersection of East 135th Street and Fifth Avenue, police told Patch.
First responders arrived at the scene of the collision shortly before 2 p.m. and found Whitick suffering from severe head trauma, police told Patch. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, a 42-year-old woman remained on the scene after the collision and has not been charged, police said.

Before the collision, Whitick was running southbound on the east side of Fifth Avenue approaching East 135th Street as the driver was traveling eastbound in the left lane of East 135 Street, police said. The driver had already entered the intersection when Whitick ran into the street and did not stop in time to avoid hitting him, police told Patch.
Whitick lived on West 138th street in Harlem, police told Patch.
