Celebrating Two New Dispensaries in Manhattan

New York is moving to build up the Adult-Use Marijuana Industry

(Kim Tompkins)

Finally, the first two Adult-Use Cannabis Marijuana Dispensaries opened in New York State. Both new locations are in the lower Manhattan area near New York University.

Too Fast or Too Slow:

Some believe this happened relatively quickly from where and when New York State started. On the other hand, others believe that it has taken too long just to get to this point. Indeed, many promises were made about how many dispensaries would be opened in early 2023. It is important to remember that New York is committed to setting up one of the best Cannabis Marijuana Social Equity programs in the United States. Getting as many things correct from the beginning would help everyone in the long run.

Justice-Involved:

Smacked is one of the two newly opened dispensaries in Manhattan. Smacked is owned by a Justice-Involved individual. This represents progress on many levels. Of course, the fact that this is a minority-owned location is significant in the Cannabis Marijuana industry since a lot of the previous economic benefits have been enjoyed by those outside the community. Second, it is great to see that the plant that was used to create harm for minorities can generate benefits for minority communities. The pride in the air is for the dispensary owner, the Office of Cannabis Management, New York State, and all minority communities across the United States.

Future Map:

The current New York State map showing two dispensaries will look different towards the end of 2023, showing over 100 open dispensaries. Our “New History” is why so many people in New York and across the country work long hours to make this our reality. At Green Rush By Design, we want to do our share to help the New History. We also offer our sincere thanks to everyone involved in building the foundation, creating the structure of our new house, and filling the house with love from the community.
