A Legal Weed Dispensary Is Opening Soon In Manhattan
New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who is running for mayor, made the first official purchase.

EAST HARLEM, NY — Tetra, East Harlem's first legal cannabis dispensary, is opening to the public on May 1.
Tetra, on Third Avenue between East 117th Street and East 118th Street, is owned by lifelong Harlem local Harold Baines, a filmmaker who also co-founded the Harlem Art Collective.
Baines intends to use the dispensary space to highlight local artists and musicians, in addition to selling both recreational and wellness-focused cannabis products like edibles and vapes to adults.

"This has been a long time coming, several years in the works, and I’m just so excited for this to become a reality," Baines said.
"It’s special to be able to create jobs for my neighbors, to make safe, tested cannabis available to adults in our community. My team and I have put a ton of work to build a shop that will work with the community, and we are ready to open our doors to Harlem."

Though the store hasn't opened to the public yet, it held a soft opening in mid-April, where mayoral candidate, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, made the first official purchase.
According to Tetra, Lander bought a vape with a strain called "Red Headed Stranger."
"It’s always beautiful to see a small business open in New York City, especially one owned and operated by someone who grew up just blocks from where they are opening," Lander said.
Tetra is located at 2152 Third Ave. in Manhattan. Doors will open on May 1, following a ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m.
