Harlem Fashion Week To Feature Clothing By Malcolm X's Daughters

The fashion showcase will be held Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Museum of the City of New York.

HARLEM, NY — This year's Harlem Fashion Week is celebrating the neighborhood's history by featuring clothing created by the daughters of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, the fashion showcase's organizers said.

The Malcolm X Legacy Collection — created by the slain civil rights leader's six daughters — will be shown twice during the one-night fashion event. The collection will be designed by Yvonne Jewnell, the creator of Harlem Fashion Week.

"The Malcolm X Legacy Collection will give the next generation of young people an opportunity to understand the principles our father believed essential to realizing one’s true potential," the daughters of Malcolm X said in a press release.
