Mount Sinai Medical Student Dead After Apparent Suicide

EAST HARLEM, NY — The body of a 27-year-old Mount Sinai medical student was discovered early Wednesday morning on the sidewalk outside of the Icahn School of Medicine student housing in East Harlem, the NYPD said.
At around 5:20 a.m., Kathryn Stascavage was found unconscious and unresponsive, the NYPD said. According to the NYPD, it appears that Stascavage jumped from her apartment on the eighth floor. She was brought to Mount Sinai and was later pronounced dead.
“The entire Mount Sinai community is mourning the loss of one of our own. We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the student's family and ask that you keep them in your thoughts in the days ahead,” Mount Sinai Health System said.
