Police Offering $10,000 Reward for Information Regarding Murder of 61-Year-Old

A 61-year-old woman was killed by a stray bullet in Harlem. Police are now offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.

HARLEM, NY — Police are now offering a reward for information in the case of a woman killed Saturday night in Harlem.

Odessa Simms, 61, was with her friends in Colonel Charles Young Playground when she hit in the neck by a stray bullet, police said. When police arrived at the park around 11:45 p.m. Simms was unresponsive and unconscious, she was later pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, police said.

Police have not yet made an arrest and are offering a reward of as much as $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest, and later a conviction, police told Patch.

“She’s the best person in the world,” Basil Simms, her husband, told the New York Times. “She loved to cook. She could make anything, and anything she made was good.”
