These 6 Harlem Schools Got Millions In Stimulus Dollars

Tens of millions of dollars went to these Harlem colleges and universities through the federal stimulus, an Uptown congressman announced.

HARLEM, NY — Six Harlem colleges and universities were among the institutions that were granted millions of dollars as part of the federal stimulus plan that passed in March, a lawmaker said on Thursday.

U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who represents Upper Manhattan and the South Bronx, announced the 10 schools in his district that received a combined $111 million through the American Rescue Plan — the $1.9 million stimulus signed into law by President Joe Biden on March 11.

The funding will help local institutions deal with the financial distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with over half of the funding going to students as emergency financial aid.
