Woman, 62, Killed In Harlem Fire, FDNY Says

The fire started on the fifth floor of a six-story building in Manhattan, fire department officials said.

HARLEM, NY — A 62-year-old woman was killed in a Harlem building fire on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire started just after 4:30 p.m. at 230 West 140th St. between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Frederick Douglass boulevards.

The fire broke out on the fifth floor of a six-story apartment building, the FDNY said.

Roughly 80 firefighters and medics were on the scene and got the fire under control at 5:51 p.m.

NYPD officials said one person died in the fire, and no other injuries were reported.
