Fall Series on Healthcare Innovation in Harrison
Evening, weekend workshops on current dynamics are for people in healthcare or related work and those interested in the field or the topic.

Fordham University’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies announces its Fall Healthcare Workshop Series:
Called the Intensive Experience in Healthcare Innovation, the series offers both weeknight and weekend sessions geared towards professionals as well as a general public audience. All the workshop topics are based on intensive interviews with current senior healthcare professionals.
The workshops are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key dynamics of the current healthcare industry. All of the workshops will provide vital insights into the current healthcare arena and will be valuable not only for people already in healthcare careers but for those who are considering transitioning to the field or work in healthcare related industries.

Participants will be given the opportunity to meet decision makers in the present world of healthcare mergers and changing models of care giving and will gain a broad-spectrum understanding of the changes taking place in the traditional roles of professionals in healthcare organizations.

Data Analytics in Healthcare (Tuesdays, 7 – 9:45 PM, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27 and 11/3) provides participants with an introductory capacity to identify and describe the structure and conduct of quantitative analytical methods relevant to the business of healthcare. Data will be examined both qualitatively and quantitatively to determine patterns and trends. There will be hands-on experience of analytical software packages.
Teambuilding and Effective Communication in the New Healthcare Marketplace (Saturday, 8:30 AM – 1 PM, 10/24) examines various models of leadership as demonstrated by a panel of present day leaders of major healthcare organizations. Participants will discuss the radical changes in their world, the organizational challenges that have created a disruptive environment in which to work, and the critical areas of managing a healthcare organization.
Navigating the Healthcare System: Professional Caregivers’ Evolving Roles (Thursday, 6 – 8:45 PM, 11/05)provides a comprehensive introduction to the new types of caregiver roles that are evolving in many institutions and provider venues, with a special focus on the roles of MDs, DOs, physician assistants, visiting nurses, certified nursing assistants (CNAs), healthcare navigators, and social workers. The workshop will provide information on innovative changes in hospitals, nursing homes and outpatient settings which are impacting the way healthcare is delivered.
Healthcare Information Systems and Data Security (Tuesdays, 7 – 9:45 PM, 11/10 and 11/17) presented by legal experts and information technology professionals will enable participants to gain an introductory knowledge of technology-based methods used for vital functions in various aspects of the healthcare delivery system. Participants will gain a working knowledge of the cyberspace landscape and some insight into emerging global and local cyber threats.
Healthcare Policy and Regulatory Issues (Tuesdays, 7 – 9:45 PM, 12/01 and 12/08) examines current political, legal, technological and economic healthcare policy developments and provides familiarity with legal, ethical and policy issues in the changing landscape of healthcare. New methods of health services delivery and financing will be covered in the context of the U.S. history of regulation of the healthcare industry to assess whether the overall impact has had a positive effect and what it means for individuals and businesses.Healthcare Marketing, Social Media, and Ethics (Saturday, 9 AM – 1 PM, 12/05) provides an introduction to the methods and strategies associated with healthcare marketing and patient information sources. The issue of the medicalization of society will also be examined. The workshop will concentrate on evaluating medical web content, ethical advertising, and practical skills needed to provide the public with precise and reliable health knowledge.
Participants may enroll in one or more workshops. Those who complete all six will receive a certificate of completion for the program.
