Manhattanville University Announces Transformational Project to Enhance Campus Athletics
The project includes a full renovation of Manhattanville's baseball field as well as the creation of a brand-new multi-sport field

Purchase, N.Y., May 2026 –Manhattanville University today announced a major capital project to transform its existing baseball field into a state-of-the-art baseball and multi-sport field, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to modernizing campus facilities, elevating the student-athlete experience, and supporting long-term institutional growth.
The initiative, which has been approved by the University’s Board of Trustees, represents a strategic investment in campus infrastructure and is part of a broader effort that includes recent upgrades to Spellman Hall (Manhattanville’s primary residence for first-year students), the library, and Brownson Hall (which houses classrooms).
“Manhattanville continues to make strategic and student-focused investments in our campus that strengthen our student experience,” said President Frank Sánchez. “This project reflects our commitment to supporting our student-athletes with facilities that match their talent and ambition, while also creating new opportunities for growth and innovation.”

“This is the perfect opportunity to renovate our baseball field, while also making it possible for us to use the field for other sports, and generate important revenue for the institution through rentals,” said Julene Caulfield, Associate Vice President of Athletics and Recreation at Manhattanville. “The addition of the multi-sport field is also allowing us to add women’s flag football as a varsity sport in spring 2028. It’s the best of both worlds, combined into one project.”
Upgrading Manhattanville’s baseball field
At the center of the project is a comprehensive renovation of the University’s baseball field into a high-performance, multi-use athletic space. The upgraded field will feature:

Expanding Opportunities Across Campus
The new multi-sport field will serve as a dynamic hub for Manhattanville’s athletic and campus community, supporting both varsity athletics and the University’s growing intramural and recreational programs. This expansion underscores Manhattanville’s commitment to inclusivity and providing equitable opportunities for student-athletes.
In addition to strengthening athletics, the facility is designed to support external rentals and events, creating new revenue streams that contribute to the University’s long-term financial health.
Investing in the Future
The project is being funded through a combination of philanthropic support and a targeted short-term loan from the University’s endowment, reflecting a strategic approach to balancing campus investment with financial sustainability.
Construction is expected to start in Summer 2026 (contingent upon approval from the town of Harrison planning board). Manhattanville intends for the new field to be completed in time for the spring 2027 baseball season.
The transformation of the baseball field into a multi-sport field represents more than a facilities upgrade—it is a bold step toward building a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking campus environment.
