NY State Police Join CT Investigation Of Dead Baby

Investigators consider Westchester a possible starting point for the dead baby discovered at a garbage plant in Stamford, Connecticut.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Police investigators have zeroed in on Westchester County as a possible starting point for the dead baby discovered at a garbage plant in Stamford, Connecticut Oct. 16. Investigators are now focusing their efforts on the material that was delivered by a company that services Westchester County as well as Danbury and Ridgefield, Connecticut.

They're also investigating local material delivered from lower Fairfield County, CT, including Stamford, Westport, and Norwalk. The majority of the material that was processed on that morning is known to have come from commercial properties/dumpsters.

Most of the material that was processed at the City Carting & Recycling facility then is known to have come from commercial properties/dumpsters.

The Stamford Police Department has reached out to law enforcement partners in neighboring states for assistance, according to New York State Police.

At this point in the investigation, the child can only be described as a white or Hispanic male. No determination has been made as to whether the child was stillborn or died after birth, state police said.

Stamford police investigators have ruled out locations in Nassau County, NY and Andover, MA as possible sources.
