Weather Update: Humidity, Rain End Warm September

The end of the work week in Harrison will be much cooler.

It started 20 degrees warmer this morning than yesterday, with much higher humidity too. But by the end of the week, it should be much cooler.

“The clouds are invading from the south, and that means the flow will also be out of the south. That means warmer temps… and increased humidity levels,” said Bill Potter from Hudson Valley Weather.

By Tuesday, the storm along the coast and a cold front coming in from Canada should begin to interact, and it’s looking as if it will bring more than scattered showers.

“This would be some much needed rainfall, possibly over 1 inch, for many locations,” Potter said.

AccuWeather said cities at risk of a soaking Tuesday and/or Tuesday night include New York City and Albany, New York; Trenton, New Jersey; Hartford, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; Boston; and Portland, Maine.

This September could go down in history books as the warmest September on record in many cities across the Midwest and Northeast, said Kristina Pydynowski, Senior Meteorologist at AccuWeather.com.

Second, the cold:

“Afternoon temperatures may only be in the 50s by Friday and this weekend [in parts of the Northeast], which will be a shock to residents given how warm it has been at times over the past couple of weeks,” stated AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson. Late-week rain may also contribute to temperatures being held well below normal.
