#100 - Ice Skating at The Rinx

Our first article of 100 Things To Do In Hauppauge starts off with one of the area's most well-known entertainment venues.

Finding 100 Things to Do in Hauppauge is going to be easy, so we're starting with the area's most well-known winter hobby: ice skating at

The Rinx oversees the operations of the recreational activities on the Town of Islip's 97-acre Hidden Pond Park. This place is a hot spot, whether in the heat of summer or winter's cold blast, for those looking to enjoy the sensation of gliding on ice - no more pretending in socks on  tiled kitchen floors or slick hallways.

There are two full-sized indoor ice skating rinks that are used for private and public ice skating lessons, birthday parties and a host of other special events. So grab your ice skates, or rent a pair - either figure skating or those for ice hockey - and hit the rink.

The rink and ice really come alive during the Friday night's Rock `n` Roll public ice skating sessions held weekly from 8:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. It's the place dress in the latest fashions while gliding along to the latest songs with enough variety to please all generations. Even for those who hold onto the railings for dear life manage to get into the groove and show off a dance move or two.

Other public skating sessions are held through the week, check The Rinx's website for details as they change seasonally.
