Brooklyn Shoplifter Bites Thumb And Flees With Soap, Police Say

An employee who tried to stop the woman from stealing body soap received three stitches, police said.

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a woman who was caught shoplifting soap and suddenly chomped down on the thumb of man who tried to stop her.

The woman grabbed a bottle of body soap from the shelves of HJ Fulton Trading Inc. on Fulton Street and Rockwell Place around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

A 40-year-old employee tried to stop her from leaving the store, but she shoved him, grabbed his hand and bit his thumb, police said.

The woman fled the store with her soap and the man was taken to Brooklyn Hospital where he received three stitches, said police.

Police describe the suspect as a woman in her forties standing five-foot-six, weighing about 200 pounds and last seen wearing a tan shirt and a blue jean hat.
