Downtown Brooklyn Has Two Of NYC's Noisiest Hotels, Study Finds

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, BROOKLYN — A new study is warning visitors to beware of some city hotels that don't seem to follow the etiquette rules of "do not disturb" — and two of the hotels are in Downtown Brooklyn.

Researchers at Localize.city found that Downtown Brooklyn was one of three neighborhoods with the most of New York City's ten noisiest hotels, which it based on the number of 311 noise complaints at the hotels between July 2017 and July 2018. The neighborhood had two hotels on the list, the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge in second place with 31 complaints and the Aloft New York Hotel in seventh place with 19 complaints.

The data should help new visitors decide where they should or should not stay, the researchers said.

"By showing the full story of every address, including its noise profile, we're helping New Yorkers make better, more informed decisions about where to live or even where to stay when they come to visit," said Localize.city President Steve Kalifowitz. "Providing this knowledge helps you ask the right questions before you move or visit. The bottom line is: no one should be surprised."

At the top of the list was the Dream Hotel in Midtown, which saw 69 complaints, and Williamsburg's McCarren Hotel and Pool, which had 40.
